The Road to Emmaus Ministry has its origin from the disciples on the Road to Emmaus
in Luke 24:13-35
We believe this portion Scripture best describes the heart of our ministry to see people come to a saving knowledge of the truth beginning with the Jew and unto all the world.
In the narrative on the Road to Emmaus we see the triune nature of salvation: Revelation, Reason, and Experience, begin in the heart of His people.
We see the need for God to reveal Himself to our hearts in order to believe: Luke 24:31 “And their eyes were opened, and they knew him”
We also see the need for the human heart to use God given reason to see what He has revealed in their hearts: Luke 24:32 “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”
Lastly, we see that once God has revealed Himself and the human heart has understood by way of reason then, and only then, do we truly experience God leading to the action of good works: Luke 24:32-35 “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.”
As messengers of the gospel it is our heart to see the Jewish people come to faith in the Messiah and hear the words “Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
