Hospitality Ministry
Mealtime or as the Bible often describes it as the breaking of bread and fellowship is a great way to meet others and show the love of our Messiah to the people in Israel. We try and have guests at our home often for a meal or just coffee as it gives a great opportunity to use hospitality to bless our neighbors, meet other believers, and most importantly to give the gospel.
Shabbat Meals
One of the greatest blessings we have is the ability to show our Messiah is some of the traditions that Jewish people continue to observe that much of Christendom has long forgotten. One such tradition is the Friday evening meal to announce the Sabbath known in Hebrew as the Shabbat. We keep the traditions that do not contradict the Scriptures which allow us to point everything to Christ our Savior. To be sure, there are many traditions we reject which are part of Rabbinic Judaism that are mystical and don’t belong for a believer, but we do want to use those that are appropriate and enable us to use the time to point to the Messiah.
The meal allows us to not only introduce some wonderful reminders for all believers, but it also enables us to use the time as an evangelistic tool. Along with our family, members of our congregation, and guests we have invited many of our neighbors, those we have met during outreach, and IDF soldiers who work with our children in the army. It has proven to be a great time of outreach, fellowship, singing, and learning together.
